Today it is still a Woot-Off. I kept reloading Woot.com, hoping to land one of those cute pig speakers, when suddenly I received an email about WOOT. No, not the company or the web site, but a Workshop on Offensive Technologies... What sign is that supposed to give me?

My honeymoon with my Moto Q is finally over. It freezed for the first time today, when what I did was merely recharging it by plugging it to the USB port of my laptop.

Now it is the time to wonder why I would buy a device running Windows to begin with.

(I know, the only reason was that it is much cheaper getting this, for both the phone and the data plan, than to get a Blackberry with service interruption...)

Two weeks into living in my new apartment, I have generally been happy with the place. I have already used the table tennis table and the pool table, and am going to take advantage of the pool, jacuzzi, and sauna very soon.

There has been, however, one major surprise--nails under the carpet. Normally this wouldn't be a concern, yet the surprise is that the sharp edges facing to the top. I have already stepped on them a few times already. I complained to the manager, and the elder lady's solution was to hammer them hard until you can't feel them even when stepping on them...

I found a few more nails afterwards, but I'm now informed and know how to fix them without calling for help.

Apparently, they exist.

I was driving back from Fry's Electronic in the weekend with my new Microwave, when I suddenly heard some clicking noise from the front of my car. Being less than 5 years old and from Toyota, it is hard to believe the car would have any problem. But then a guy driving next to me pointed to my car and started drawing circles. His facial expression seemed to suggest he saw some big problem with my car. Worried, I pulled over in a nearby neighborhood and carefully examined my car. Without much knowledge, I couldn't find any problem and so I drove home carefully.

Still worried, I went to find a mechanic this morning. It was not easy, as they are usually pretty busy on Mondays. I finally arrived at Kondo Motors, a place with positive reviews in CitySearch. The guy there originally said they were too busy to look at my car, but after some persuasion, he agreed to have a look today and, if found anything, fix it on the next day.

When I got back, he told me there was no problem with my car. What the driver trying to tell me probably was something stuck with my car instead of real problems. Even though the mechanic spent some time looking at my car and added some lubricants, he didn't not charge me anything. What's impressing is that he must know I was panicking when I was in the shop, and he could easily charge me a lot for fixing nothing, but he didn't take advantage of me, and instead provided me some free services.

So next time, if your car breaks down in Santa Monica, remember to look for Kondo Motors!

Without having it, it is sometimes hard to understand why unlimited mobile data is a bless.

After using it for less than a week, it has been solving my problems a few times. Want to find a Starbucks but don't know where you can find one? Check. Get the address but don't know how to get there? Check. Seeing a product called galanga with no Chinese name in a Chinese grocery store and wonder what it is? Check. Not to mention I can check emails and NBA scores easily on the road. Just like the Internet, it is hard to imagine how to live without it once you have it.

While I try to get things done online as much as possible, there are times where you have to call the damn companies to fight for the chatting time with their customer service representatives (CSR). During to process, you would normally need to wait for tens of minutes.

Last week I called Sprint to port my number from T-Mobile. That was one of my worst experiences on hold. I don't know who is in charge, but whoever that is, he has a horrible taste in music. Call them yourself at 800-877-4646 if you want to know what I mean. To make it worse, they played the "music" at a very low quality, making it like noise even if you liked their music.

Yet I would still take that then Time Warner on any day. Even though I brought the cable equipment to their office to terminate the account and pay the ending bill, they managed to continue charging my credit card for automatic payment and keep sending me new statements. When I was first on hand, they had a recorded voice saying shits like "Your call is important to us. Please keep waiting." literally every 10 seconds. Then when the first CSR understood the problem and transferred me to on hold for a sales CSR, the recorded voice suddenly becomes selling their high speed internet service. Nothing special, except this time it is in Spanish! I wonder what gives them the idea that sales messages are better done in Spanish...
