"Foreign" Transaction Fee
There is a Subway restaurant in the mall next to my office. I've decided to go there once or twice a week, as there's not much else to eat either in the mall or the cafeteria in my office building. Tempted by the free AE "movie card" offer, I've decided to order a gift card for myself.
I just checked my statement. It was actually considered a "foreign" transaction in Canadian dollars, as the gift card processing center is in Canada. Needless to say, I was charged for a foreign transaction fee. Had I known before, I would have consulted this page before deciding which card to use...
